A Manufacturing Partnership Built for Conservation
A tracking collar deployed on a free-ranging animal cannot be recalled for a quick fix. It has to survive heat, dust, water, and years of continuous operation — which makes the quality of the electronics inside a conservation issue, not just an engineering one.
That is why our manufacturing partnership matters. Since 2021, specialist electronics manufacturer Kitron has manufactured tracking devices for Savannah Tracking, pairing our in-house, behavioural-ecology-driven design work with production expertise built for demanding applications.
Kitron’s recent feature on the partnership offers a glimpse of where those devices end up. Citing the Mara Elephant Project’s Q1 2025 Research & Tracking Report, it describes a bull elephant named Lempiris fitted with a Savannah Tracking collar and monitored for ongoing conservation response in the Mara.
Every collar and tag we ship carries that same chain of care — from design in Kilifi to manufacturing with trusted partners to deployment in the field.
