Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 June 2026
1. Introduction
Savannah Tracking Ltd ("Savannah Tracking", "we", "us") designs and supplies wildlife-tracking hardware and software for conservation projects. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect through our public website and through our customer-facing platforms, how we use it, and the choices you have.
This policy covers both visitors to our website and users of our platforms, including the Savannah Data Manager (SDM) desktop application, the MiSavannah mobile app, Google Earth network links, and our public REST API.
2. Data We Collect on Our Website
When you use our public website, we may collect:
- Contact and demo-request form details: your name, email address, organization, project location, product interest, and the message you send us.
- Newsletter signup information: the email address you provide.
- Communications you send to us by email or phone in connection with an inquiry.
- Basic technical data that may be collected through cookies or similar technologies, as described in the Cookies section of this policy.
3. Data We Process on Our Platforms
To provide tracking services to our customers, our platforms process the following categories of data:
- Tracking data generated by deployed devices, such as positions and sensor readings.
- User credentials used to sign in to SDM, MiSavannah, and the REST API.
- Alert recipient details, such as the names, email addresses, or phone numbers configured to receive alerts.
- Device metadata and project or collar information associated with a customer account.
We process this data to deliver, maintain, and support the services that customers have engaged us to provide.
4. How We Use Your Data
We use the data described above to:
- Respond to inquiries, demo requests, and support questions.
- Send newsletter updates to subscribers who have signed up.
- Operate, secure, and improve our website and platforms.
- Deliver tracking data, alerts, and integrations as configured by each customer account.
5. Data Retention
Tracking and platform data is stored indefinitely on our servers so that long-running conservation projects retain access to their full historical datasets. Website inquiry and newsletter data is kept for as long as needed to handle your request or maintain your subscription.
If you would like specific data removed, you can contact us as described in the User Rights section below.
6. Security
Data is hosted on a secure, password-protected cloud-based server. Access to platform data is restricted to authorized users with valid credentials. We take reasonable steps to protect data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse, although no system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
7. Sharing and Integrations
We do not sell personal data. We may share data with service providers who help us operate our website and platforms, such as cloud hosting providers, and only to the extent needed to provide our services.
Our platforms support integrations with EarthRanger and Movebank, Google Earth network links, and a public REST API. Data is shared through these integrations only as configured by the relevant customer account. Each customer controls which integrations are enabled for their projects and which data those integrations receive.
8. Your Rights
You may request access to the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct inaccurate data, or ask us to delete data we no longer need to keep. To make a request, email us at info@savannahtracking.com. We will respond within a reasonable time and may ask you to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Newsletter subscribers can unsubscribe at any time by contacting us at the same address.
9. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They can be used to keep pages working correctly, remember preferences, or understand how visitors use a site.
Our website currently sets no analytics or tracking cookies, and we do not run any analytics tools. The one place third-party technologies can come into play is our Video Guides page: videos are embedded using YouTube's privacy-enhanced player, which loads only if you choose to play a video. When you press play, YouTube may set its own cookies or use local storage under Google's own privacy and cookie policies, which we do not control.
If we introduce analytics or other non-essential cookies in the future, we will update this policy to list the specific tools in use and, where required, ask for your consent before setting them.
Most browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking all cookies may affect how parts of the website work; check your browser's help pages for instructions specific to your browser and device.
10. Children's Data
Our website and platforms are intended for conservation professionals and organizations. They are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our services or legal requirements change. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when the policy was most recently revised. We encourage you to review it periodically.
