Elephant Collars

Long-life collars for African savannah, Asian, and forest elephants, plus lighter calf and post-release deployments.

Overview

Savannah Tracking elephant collars are built for the largest land animals and the longest deployments. Models cover African savannah elephants, Asian elephants, and forest elephants, with lighter builds available for calves and post-release monitoring.

Each collar combines GPS positioning with a tri-axis accelerometer, uploading data over GSM or Iridium satellite. VHF and UHF telemetry beacons support ground tracking, while geo-fencing and mortality or abnormal-behaviour alerts keep field teams informed. Recent movements can be viewed directly in Google Earth through automatically updated network links.

As reference points, a standard model weighs around 14 kg with an expected life of 8 years, and a forest model around 8 kg with 4 years, at specified reporting schedules. Exact configurations are tailored to each project.
