Advanced Wildlife Technology
Advanced wildlife tracking hardware, data platforms, and field support systems, designed in Kenya and deployed worldwide.
From Behavioural Ecology to Field-Ready Engineering
Savannah Tracking Ltd. develops advanced wildlife tracking hardware, data platforms, and field support systems for conservation, research, and wildlife management projects. Established in Kenya in 2008 and expanded to British Columbia, Canada, in 2022, the company combines behavioural ecology, software, hardware engineering, electronics, and workshop production expertise to deliver systems built for demanding field conditions.
The company designs its tracking systems, software, and bespoke electronic components in-house, while also collaborating with specialist technology partners on electronics research, development, and manufacturing. Savannah Tracking works with animal researchers, government institutions, NGOs, and conservation partners across Africa and internationally.
Its solutions support near real-time wildlife monitoring, movement analysis, geo-fencing, alerting, conflict mitigation, and long-term conservation planning.
Mission, Vision & Values
Mission
To make robust, affordable, and customizable wildlife tracking systems accessible to conservation teams, researchers, and wildlife managers working to protect animals and improve coexistence.
Vision
A future where conservation decisions are guided by reliable field data, wildlife movements are better understood, and communities and wildlife can share landscapes more safely.
Core Values
What We Bring to the Field
Four disciplines under one roof, so devices, software, and support all come from the same team.
Behavioural Ecology
Tracking systems shaped by a deep understanding of animal movement, behaviour, and field research needs.
Software & Data
Location-aware platforms, mobile apps, and integrations built and maintained in-house.
Hardware & Electronics
Bespoke electronic components designed in-house and produced with specialist technology partners.
Workshop Production
Collars and tags assembled, tested, and refurbished in the Kilifi workshop for demanding deployments.
From Decision to Device
Every Savannah Tracking system connects field devices to the tools teams already use. Data can be accessed through Savannah Data Manager, the MiSavannah mobile app, Google Earth network links, EarthRanger, Movebank, and API integrations.
Savannah Data Manager
Desktop application for Windows and Mac with collar status, location data, reports, alerts, and geofence management.
MiSavannah App
Mobile access for field users, including collar information and push notifications for mortality and geofence alerts.
Google Earth Links
Automatically updated KMZ network links for a simple view of recent movements, refreshed every 10 minutes.
EarthRanger
Native integration feeds collar data directly into EarthRanger protected-area operations platforms.
Movebank
Movement data flows into Movebank for research collaboration, archiving, and scientific analysis.
REST API
A public REST API supports custom applications and project-specific data pipelines.
Partners & Collaborators
Savannah Tracking systems support the work of wildlife authorities, research institutions, and conservation organizations worldwide.
